About Hugz4Orphans

A bit about the origins of HUGZ4ORPHANS.
Who created it, why and how it works.

About Creating HUGZ4ORPHANS

Allia Ahmed (HUGZ4ORPHANS Founder) writes:
For 30 years I’ve been known for giving home made afghans with matching sweater outfits to babies born to my friends and family.
Some of my handmade gifts have reached across the country and around the world.
I just can’t resist making something cuddly for these precious newborns. It’s a way of giving them HUGZ no matter how far away they may be.

With the focus over the past couple years on increased community service due to many disasters around the globe, I wanted to do something on an international level to help. I’d like to send HUGZ to as many orphans as possible.

As I’ve watched TV advertisements asking for support for orphans worldwide and I’ve always wished there were something I could do on a large scale.
My heart goes out to these little children because they have lost everything meaningful and loving in their lives and one very nurturing and supportive part…HUGZ.

The daily news shows the devastation of families and countries leaving children to suffer with the mental anguish of these scenes and the burden for necessities of life without a family.
I have an orphan I support in a foreign country, but I’ve wanted to do more.

So this year (2006) I’ve started an organization called HUGZ4ORPHANS and I’m reaching out to involve others in this effort.
I’m mailing letters across the country, emailing information about my organization to friends who will forward to their contacts on the Internet and I’m actively speaking to groups for this cause.
